Tour the New Winnebago Sunflyer 24GG & Learn More About Its Smart Features
A classic Class C with a similar layout to the EKKO, but at a lower price point.

The Winnebago Sunflyer/Suncruiser is a great option for lovers of the classic Class C who also want upgraded features. For wannabe Winnebago EKKO owners, the 24GG floorplan is a great alternative if you need to stay at a lower price point since it has a similar layout (like a large gear garage and Flex Bed system), but it is only about half the price!

In the video below, tour the Winnebago Sunflyer 24GG and listen to an interview with Winnebago Product Manager Chris Bienert to learn more about the smart, modern features included in this Class C motorhome. You may recognize Chris from tours of popular Winnebago campervans he has worked on (including the Revel, Travato, and Solis). As he shares in the interview, he was excited to team up with a group of young engineers and designers to bring some of what owners love about Winnebago's compact coaches to this new Class C!

Differences in the Winnebago EKKO & Sunflyer 24GG

The Winnebago EKKO is a beloved option in the compact coach community for its all-season capabilities and features ideal for camping off-grid. So, there will be some trade-offs if choosing the Winnebago Sunflyer 24GG instead, but if you are looking for a lower-cost option with more capacity to carry your camping gear, this could be an ideal fit!

  • One of the main differences between the Winnebago EKKO and Sunflyer/Suncruiser 24GG is the size. The Suncruiser is about a foot wider (8'5.5") and a few feet longer (at 27'1" feet), but this means it also has a larger gear garage!
  • The Winnebago Sunflyer/Suncruiser also has an impressive occupant and cargo carrying capacity (OCCC) of more than 3,300 pounds--more than double the EKKO! (Learn more about the importance of RV weight ratings here.)
  • Sunflyer's impressive OCCC is due to being on the Ford Econoline chassis, which does have a less modern look than the EKKO but a high Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). However, this chassis will have different gas mileage and handling than the more nimble chassis options used for the EKKOs.
  • The Winnebago EKKO can be used in all seasons and has features to make that possible. However, the Winnebago Sunflyer/Suncruiser is a three-season coach, so it does not have the same winter-camping specific features.
  • For camping off-grid, the Winnebago EKKO's electrical system is ideal for going off-grid for many days without needing hookups. The Winnebago Sunflyer/Suncruiser would necessitate running the generator for a similar level of energy dependence. (But at 4,000 watts, you should have a lot of power available!)
  • The Winnebago Sunflyer/Suncruiser has a large, traditional black tank. This means you will have to take your RV to a proper dump station instead of having the flexibility of dumping a cassette toilet like the EKKO has.
