GWR State Rally
April 27 - May 1

We rocked and hopped at the Georgia Winnie Rebel’s State Rally this year at the beautiful property of Bald Mountain Camping Resort in Hiawassee, GA – it was another one to remember and reminisce on. Linda Tomsett did a wonderful job of planning our State Rally again this year and we all thank her dearly for her preparations– nobody does it better! Our state rally feels like an annual reunion of good friends and it’s a very nice kick-off for our summer travels in our Winnebago’s. Attendees came from 11 states – GA, FL, PA, AL, IN, MI, MS, NC, OH, TN, and VA!

We loved and very much enjoyed all of y’all’s participation and help with making this Rally a lot of fun for all of us. Our vendors provided excellent seminars, door prizes & goodies for us all and we thank them for participating and helping educate us on better ways of maintaining and protecting some of our RV systems [as well as us], showing us new Winnebago RVs to look at and consider, and even showing us a better way to cook healthier meals.

We had enough of us that showed up early so we had some pre-Rally fun. A Tuesday night cookout was set that started with Fred Genrich’s Boston Butt he brought for smoking. The rest of us brought anything we had to contribute for a fun impromptu cookout. We had a feast! New friends were made and catching up with old friends gave us ideas – traveling ideas that is. The Opening Ceremony was held Thursday morning and the 48th Annual Georgia State Rally was kicked off in the 10 o’clock hour by Dennis Geiser. After our Pledge of Allegiance to our American Flag was made, Franklin Jackson led us in prayer, then Dennis reviewed our Rally Agenda. The gavel hit the podium and the Rally began.

This Rally was a lot of fun for us all. Closing ceremony was Sunday morning in the 9 o’clock hour then we cleaned up, loaded up, closed up, unhooked and said our farewells. We rolled out by checkout time. Thank you Linda for another great Rally this year! Thank you to the GWR team and activity leaders and all of our helpers and everyone that joined in on our fun Check our website where we’ll post our upcoming schedule and the rest of this year’s Rally pictures – gawit.com Until we see y’all again - Safe Travels!
