GA: Winnie Rebels
HOALOHA LUAU
GWR State WIT Rally
At the
Hiawassee KOA Holiday Campground

Aloha!
The Georgia Winnie Rebels (GWR) held their 49th State Rally with the Hawaiian Luau theme in Hiawassee, Georgia during the last week in April. This campground, now owned by KOA, was as beautiful as ever with all of the amenities and beautiful mountainous surroundings. We had 33 Winnebago rigs and 63 hearts participate with 20 1st timers in 11 rigs that got to experience our Georgia fun and hospitality and we do hope they will all come back.
For everyone who missed this Rally, I hope the pictures help you see the fun we had. This Rally is a reunion of Winnebago friends (old and new) and we all look forward to seeing each other each year, getting better acquainted, catching up, and hearing about each of the adventures we have to tell. It is so much fun to have everyone participate and help in everything. As I have been combing through the pictures, I was surprised to see how many volunteers outside of our GWR Club there were – thank you, thank you!
We officially started on Wednesday, April 26th with a “Meet & Greet” before our “Hamburger Welcome Cookout.”

Dennis Geiser, our emcee, and Bobby Eubanks, our devotion lead, got us officially kicked off with our Opening Ceremony Thursday morning. Activities for the rainy day included a Hot Dog lunch sponsored by WIT – Thank you WIT!

Then, Chip Maddox held a seminar on ‘RV Suspension improvements and dinghy towing’. (We forgot to get a picture of Chip sitting on the stage – we did catch him in the Cake Walk – look for him!)
Dinner was a full-blown feast made up of “heavy” snacks that everyone prepared and brought into the big pavilion. Every year we all out-do ourselves in making sure our appetizers have all the necessary food groups and we all love it!

Dinner was served at 6:00 PM, and sponsored by Campers Inn RV – Acworth. We enjoyed a delicious dinner of chicken, carrots with dill butter, macaroni & cheese, rolls and topped off with a brownie trifle (or is it truffle?). “Brother’s at Willow Ranch” catered our dinners for Friday & Saturday night – and they have always provided us with delicious meals!

Saturday began with a pancake breakfast with sausage and assorted fruit. Thank you to Jim Bell, Winston Paramore, and Dennis Geiser for getting up early and firing up the griddles both Friday & Saturday mornings – and thanks to Bobby Eubanks for getting up early and getting the coffee started for us too - Breakfast was enjoyed by all!

The annual Cake Walk began at 3:00 pm and would you believe we had a few winners that won more than 1 cake – one of us Winnies, Tom Horner, won 3!

Seating for dinner was at 5:30 p.m. and I never did see so many beautiful Hawaiian clothes. We were served chopped sirloin with mushroom & onion gravy, roasted red potatoes, southern style green beans, rolls and finished off with a slice of red velvet cake.

The Band Silver is excellent and we’re so happy to have had them come play at our Grand Finale event.

Sunday morning was our final Aloha with a continental breakfast and we hope everyone’s next journey is a safe one.
Thank you all who participated in our Georgia Winnie Rebel State Rally. Linda Tomsett makes this event possible with her planning and organizing and so do the rest of the GWR members. They led teams and helped out in many ways, including working with our favorite vendors to get sponsorships that provide items for our goody bags, door prizes, and meals– this could not have happened without everyone’s support. Our sponsors this year were: Campers Inn – Acworth, Coach-Net, Georgia Museums, Inc./Tellus Science Museum, Griot’s Garage, Lichtsinn RV, Rallys R Us, RCI XL, and Thetford.
Please check our website from time to time where all the pictures will be loaded soon. Our website is: http://www.gawit.com/. Check out our schedule on that site as well, and join us again later in 2023 for some more Georgia fun!
Hele Palekana!
