CO: Colorado Columbines

Breckenridge – Tiger Run Resort – May 17, 2022 thru May 20, 2022

Twenty seven Colorado Columbine members made it to our first camping event of the season.

Tiger Run Resort is not your typical RV campground.  It is a true resort with a high-end club house that included indoor swimming pool, several hot tubs and bathrooms straight out of a country club (mahogany lockers and bathroom/showers and quartz vanities).  Since we were in “mud season”, prices were lower and traffic and people were at a minimum.  Except for the last day, the weather was pretty good.  

We started off with Hosts (Kotulak’ s and Morkovin’ s) providing yummy BBQ sandwiches, baked beans and potato salad.

The next day, after a morning coffee encounter with a moose walking through the campground, we headed to South Park near Fairplay, CO and toured the reconstructed town of 42 buildings.  Very good and very interesting.  Most had lunch in Fairplay overlooking the reservoir and several working gold mines.

On Thursday we spent a long and tiring day going on two museum tours and then a “Bawdy Tour” of the areas seamier side.  We ended the day with a private dinner and business meeting at “Fatty’s” in downtown Breckenridge.

Friday was our only not so good day.  Because of an impending winter snowstorm, only 8 of us stuck it out to see if we could eat some of the going away breakfast of 40 eggs and 24 muffins.

Unfortunately, we awoke to an early snowfall at 7:00 am.  So, no breakfast was served and we hightailed out of town before the roads got slick. All made it home in good order!
