CA: Golden Bear Winnies

The Golden Bear Winnies held their annual Christmas event at the Lodi Grape Festival Grounds on December 1- 4, 2022. The Club President and Officers were Wagon Masters. Those members and guests who arrived on Thursday enjoyed a Swiss Steak dinner at the Local Elks Club. 

   On Friday, several members went wine tasting at Berghold Vineyards Estates, an award-winning winery which has been producing wine grapes in Lodi since 1986. The tasting room was filled with antiques, Christmas decorations, and gifts available for purchase. We listened to Christmas carols sung by a choir before a dinner of pizza, salad and dessert provided by the Wagon Masters. 

After dinner, the guys played pickleball and cornhole, while the girls danced the night away. 

   Breakfast on Saturday consisted of eggs with biscuits and gravy, fruit and juice, and was followed by our Club meeting. After lunch, several members played Christmas Bingo. During cocktail hour we listened to music by Ira and Mike, (on guitar and harmonica, respectively), who played Christmas songs as well as 50’s and 60’s rock and country music. 

Dinner by the Wagon Masters consisted of prime rib, scalloped potatoes, green beans, and dinner rolls. 

For dessert, we had cake decorated to commemorate the 50^th anniversary of the Golden Bear Winnies.  After dinner, the new officers and board members were sworn in. Incoming President Pam Schmidt presented a plaque to past President Lana Mason in recognition of her service over the past year. 

   On Sunday, members had a light breakfast of assorted muffins, danish, fruit, and juice before heading home. 

The next outing of the Golden Bear Winnies will be at Vineyard RV Park in Vacaville, CA from February 16-19, 2023.
