On May 19-22, 2022 the Chardonnay Travelers had their May outing at Flag City RV Resort in Lodi. Flag City is located in the Central Valley of California and is located at the junction of Interstate 5 and Highway 12. The resort is a convenient base camp to explore the attractions of Sacramento, the California Delta, and the San Francisco Bay Area. It was easy to tell that summer is coming with windy days and elevated temperatures!  Unfortunately, California is already worried about the upcoming “fire season” with winds, dry landscapes, and summer sun!

Flag City RV Resort has nicely set-up cement pads for parking the RVs with a variety of amenities, and a well-equipped clubhouse. On Thursday, once everyone arrived, our Hosts prepared a nice “welcome dinner” in the clubhouse. On Friday, the planned activities included a “Crafting With Judy” activity where everyone interested created cork flag decorations/hot-pads. The activity was great fun (& a bit messy) and everyone got a chance to paint 35 wine corks red or blue with stars to make cork flags. It was amazing how focused everyone was while they happily painted and assembled their flags! The flags all turned out great! “Thanks Judy!” Later, after the craft activity, our group car-pooled over to the “Brick House Restaurant” in Lodi for a pleasant late-afternoon “dinner-out”.

Other activities on Saturday included an unofficial “corn hole tournament” with the Bryner Team placing first, a “chapter meeting”, a B-B-Q /Potluck on Saturday evening, and a challenging game of “Left-Right-Center “ with Pam Hight being the lucky winner. During the free-time, members explored some of the several local wineries in the area. Judy Mullen made a “Chardonnay Traveler’s pillow” that was raffled off at the end of the outing. Leora & Johnny Matranga were the lucky winners. On Sunday everyone attended the “Get-a-Way Breakfast” and then packed-up to start home.
