February 10-13, 2022
Bryner & Anderson – Co-Hosts
Chardonnay Travelers

On February 10-13, 2022 the Chardonnay Travelers had an outing at the Vineyard RV Park in Vacaville, CA.  The Co-Hosts were Fred & Gay Bryner and Bob & Gloria Anderson.  The outing’s theme was “Valentine’s Day – Love is in the Air”.  Eleven (11) rigs were in attendance.  The weather was really nice and we had full use of the park’s clubhouse and patio so the outing went very well and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

On Thursday (10), everyone arrived in the early afternoon.  After everyone got settled-in, the hosts concocted a large pot of “Sweetheart Stew” where a base stew was provided by the Hosts and the attendees all brought something to add to the pot to enhance it!  It turned out nicely.  The Hosts also provided appetizers & bread and some of the attendees provided green salads and desserts.  Believe me, no one left hungry!   The first night was spent in friendly conversation either out on the covered patio or inside the clubhouse.

On Friday (11), breakfast and lunch were left as optional “on your own”.  Then, at 1:30pm, we all caravanned to Fairfield to the Jelly Belly Factory for a “Wine & Chocolate Experience.”  The event took place in the “Very Cherry Room” there at the Jelly Belly Factory.  Fourteen (14) of our members got to enjoy a pairing of local wines with Jelly Belly Chocolates.  Mmmm!  Really tasty!   Later, at 5:30pm that night, we all caravanned over to the Olive Garden Restaurant in Vacaville for a “Dinner Out.”  After dinner, we returned to the Vineyard Clubhouse at the RV Park for a friendly game of Card Bingo.  Some of the participants were lucky winners and went home with some extra change!  Congratulations to all!

On Saturday (12), breakfast was on your own.  Then, at 9:30am, our Club Meeting was held in the Vineyard Clubhouse.   After the meeting ended, we all caravanned over to the “Rowland Freedom Center” at the Nut Tree Airport there in Vacaville.  The Center is housed in-&-around one of the hangers there at the Nut Tree Airport.  It contained a variety of antique airplanes, World War I & II machinery and artifacts, etc.  Mr. Paul Mirich, our guide, was very thorough and entertaining with lots of stories to fill-in about some of the items there at the center.   We were given chances to get up close to many of the artifacts and airplanes being displayed.  The tour was very worth-while and informative. Thank you to Bob Anderson for arranging the tour.  At 5:00pm we all met back at the Vineyard Clubhouse for Social Hour  with appetizers provided by the Hosts and the entre’ portion of Dinner was prepared by Hosts Fred Bryner & Gloria Anderson with assistants Gay B. & Bob A. – they prepared a pork roast with baked potatoes and gravy.  Some of the attendees prepared vegetables, salads, and desserts to go along with the meal.  Please Note: The roast pork dinner was actually a “trial-run” of the dinner that our club has volunteered to prepare at the Southwest Regional Rally in March in Bakersfield.  After dinner, our Hosts put out a “Wedding Show-Off Gallery” of wedding pictures of our members.  The challenge was to see how many we could identify – the top three (3) winners were awarded prizes.  Congratulations, Carol K., Sandy S. & Sue C.  Good job!  Then, to finish off the night, we watched a movie, “Under the Tuscan Sun.”

On Sunday (13), the Co-Hosts provided a “Farewell Breakfast” with egg-bites, muffins, mixed fruits, and fruit juices.  After that, everyone helped to clean -up the Clubhouse and then hurried home to watch the” Super Bowl” scheduled for that evening!

The week end turned out to be a busy one!  There were lots of things to see and do.  Plenty of goodies to sample.  And, lots of nice friends to visit with.  If anyone would like to join our group during any of our future outings, please check out our Calendar of Events at our website – https://chardonnaytravelers.com.  Please contact Fred Bryner, our club President at [email protected].  We really would love to have you join us!  Hope to see you soon!
