Wallace & Matranga Co-Hosts

Chardonnay Travelers, CA

Our outing was scheduled in the Gold Country near Sonora at the Black Oak Casino Resort RV Park.  The weather was really cooperative, for the most part, with only one day a little cloudy and a small bit of rain late at night.  Our Co-Hosts, Milt & Carol Wallace and Leora & Johnnie Matranga planed a really fun weekend with great food, fun activities including a local theater presentation of “Murder on the Orient Express”, and a very nice clubhouse/facility.  They really did a great job…way beyond the usual!  Thanks to our Hosts for a great weekend!

Friday (19) afternoon everyone arrived after 2pm to get settled and do a little exploring before the dinner hour.  For dinner we had a meal of “Hearty Appetizers” where everyone brought their favorite appetizers to share with the group.  After dinner we played Card Bingo in one of the smaller meeting rooms in the Clubhouse.

On Saturday (20) our Hosts planned a fun way to have a “Breakfast Open House” to show-off their new home in the community of Soulsbyville.   The Wallaces have only been in their new house for just short of one year (they had to live part of the time in their RV next to the house while the work was being done in the house).   The breakfast was catered by “Papa’s New Roost” providing a sampling of good country goodies including biscuits & gravy.  Very nice way to start off the day. Later in the afternoon our group went into Sonora to attend a performance of “Murder on the Orient Express” at the Sierra Repertory Theatre.  It was really well done.  After the play we all met for dinner at “Peppery” just down the road from the theatre.  There we had a great B-B-Q Buffet.

Sunday (21) started off with our Club Meeting at 10am in the park clubhouse.  Breakfast and lunch were left to everyone’s own exploration.  At 1pm Penny Burns led a craft activity to create a “Sheet Music Table Center Piece”.  Several attended the activity and created really lovely center pieces for the holidays.  Thanks, Penny.  It was great fun!  That evening, the dinner was a Thanksgiving Potluck dinner where our hosts prepared the turkey and the rest of the attendees brought their favorite Pot-Luck items for dinner in the park clubhouse.  Really great dinner!  Thank you all!  After dinner, several of our group stayed to play the game Left-Right-Center.  Debbie Z. ended up being the lucky winner!  Great fun!

Monday (22) finished the weekend outing with a “Get-Away-Breakfast” at the clubhouse and then off everyone went to return home for the Thanksgiving week.  What a great weekend!  Thanks again to our Co-Hosts!
