Why Winnebago? Top Reasons RVers Choose This Iconic RV Brand
Plus, learn how Winnebago collects and uses feedback!
By: Kenny & Sabrina Phillips
If you’ve ever been to an RV show or Overland Expo, a Winnebago employee may have approached you to ask what you think of their current lineup. You may have assumed they were just being friendly, but they were also trying to collect feedback. They want to know what works best for consumers now as well as in the future.
You may have even run into me at a show, where I’ve asked you to answer a quick digital survey about your travel needs and what you’d like to see in a future Winnebago RV. The information that I help collect at the shows goes directly to the Winnebago product team, so your voice is certainly being heard.
In my experience, Winnebago does an excellent job of listening to its customers. But, even more impressively, they actually act on that feedback and incorporate it into their RV designs, which really makes them stand out to the RVing community.
Something I’ve noticed over my years of working RV shows as a brand ambassador is that Winnebago consistently leads the way in innovation and setting industry trends. I often see other manufacturers try to copy the Winnebago brand, but those attempts usually fall short, in my opinion, because they tend to replicate only the simpler parts of a build.
More intuitive features, like the power bed in the back of the Winnebago Revel or the hybrid wet bath in the Winnebago EKKO, are often skipped. It seems to me that these copycats aren't willing to put in the extra effort required for good design, and Winnebago owners know that.

Top 5 Reasons RVers Choose Winnebago
Here are some other reasons I often hear about why Winnebago is the top choice for new RVers and current owners wanting to upgrade.
For a list of top reasons owners choose RV travel, read this article!
1. Implements Owner Feedback in New Models
As mentioned above, many Winnebago design changes and upgrades are based on the feedback they receive from consumers. These current and potential owners appreciate being listened to and are excited to see proof they were heard when new Winnebago models are revealed.
Personally, I feel a strong connection to the company when one of my ideas or changes makes it to the production line. It makes me feel like I am part of the team, and I’m sure that is true for others as well.

2. Long-Standing Presence in the RV Industry
Winnebago has been around for a long time, since 1958 to be exact. That’s a lot of experience in the RV industry, and it doesn’t go unnoticed. When I’m working shows, people often come up to me to share that their parents or grandparents owned a Winnebago, and they have fond memories of traveling in one when they were younger. Someone even told me they were born in a Winnebago!
Those trips and vacations had such a positive impact on them that now they want to create new memories in a modern Winnebago. Read more stories about families who have passed on a love for RVing through the generations in this article.
The brand is truly iconic and has stood the test of time. My only regret in RVing is that I didn’t buy a Winnebago sooner.

3. Active and Welcoming Owner Community
Winnebago is the perfect choice for RVers looking to hit the open road and meet new people, and that’s because Winnebago has community built in. When you purchase a Winnebago, you’ll find several owner groups (with many having an active Facebook group for discussion).
Some of these are model-specific, where you can ask “how to” questions about your particular RV, while others are more general, like my Winnebago Wild group (shameless plug), where we chat about where we are taking our Winnebagos and what we’re doing with them.
Sabrina and I also feel like we see more Winnebagos on the road than any other brand, and our RVs are always a great icebreaker to start a conversation at the campground.

Winnebago also hosts many owner meetups and has taken Camp Winnebago On the Road in 2025, bringing parties, seminars, games, and campfire stories to locations around the country. So, if you’re looking to explore the country and make new friends, look no further than Winnebago. Sabrina and I now have more friends because of our Winnebago than ever before, and these are friendships we know will last a lifetime.
4. Wide Range of Models for Different Travel Preferences
With all the floorplans available from Winnebago, it’s no surprise that we see so many of them on the road and at campgrounds. Just this past year, Winnebago added a new floorplan to the Revel Sport, two new floorplans to the View, and the EKKO is now available in two configurations. And, if you visit the towables page, you’ll see there’s truly a floorplan for every need.
Whether you have a large family, travel solo, or fall somewhere in between, Winnebago has a layout for you. Plus, with more of their motorized models now equipped with all-wheel drive, they’re ready to go just about anywhere.

5. Innovative Features
Winnebago is always looking ahead and pushing to take the RV experience to the next level. One of the newest innovative ideas is the Winnebago Connect system. This RV interface allows you to monitor and control your Winnebago like never before from anywhere in the world, right from your phone.
You can do simple things like lock and unlock the RV, control the climate, and even operate the slides in and out. I really like that last feature because it lets me stand outside the RV while deploying the slide to make sure I’m not going to hit anything. The system is also capable of more complex tasks like monitoring your power usage while off-grid and can shut off items not in use to help extend your battery life. It’s truly like having an RV companion that never sleeps.
