How to Video on Adding Extra Shower Storage to Your RV
See a simple solution using Winnebago parts.
Finding creative storage solutions is a skill most RVers harness quickly, especially in smaller rigs. Identifying underutilized areas and adding shelves or other storage options is a great way to make the most of a small space.
Recently, Winnebago EKKO owner and mod-lover, James Adinaro decided he wanted to add the shower storage area he loved in his previous RV (a Winnebago Travato) to the EKKO. Although this mod does take some skill to accomplish, it is fairly simple and inexpensive. You can watch how he added the shower storage to the Winnebago EKKO in the video below, but this option is also possible for most RVs!
Remember: Any modifications made to your RV are done at your own risk. Be sure to do your own research, read your manual, and consult a professional as needed.
Adding Extra RV Shower Storage Using Winnebago Parts
In the video above, James shows how he added a waterproof shower storage cubby into the wall of his shower. Below are the supplies you'll need, but be sure to watch the video for detailed instructions.
Supplies Needed
For this shower storage install, these are the particular tools and additional supplies you’ll see used in the video (in addition to general shop supplies like a drill, sandpaper, clamps, etc.)
- ABS Sheet: James decided to back up the hole with 1/4″ thick ABS so the screws would have more to bite into. (Note: There may be a plastic film you'll need to remove before using it.)
- ABS Glue: Simple ABS glue will create a strong solvent weld between the pieces.
- Screws: James used #6 x 5/8″ Spax screws. Just be sure you use flat head screws so that the gasket will sit flat on them at the end.
- Hand Saw: This will be needed for cutting into the shower wall.
- White Silicone Sealant: There will be a slight gap around the frame when you’re done, so a light bead of caulking finishes the job nicely.
