12 Kitchen Gadgets RVers Love!
From portable appliances to stackable kitchen gear.
By: GoLife Staff

RVers are often very methodical when choosing which new products to bring into their rolling home. They have to consider if they have the space for it, whether it will consume too much power, and if it would be likely to break while they are driving to their next destination.

Kitchen gadgets are an especially popular topic in the RVing community because the right option can help save power, space, AND your beloved time! So, we’ve asked some of our GoLifers to share their top RV kitchen gear items – from appliances to utensils – to help you narrow down the best products that make RV life even more enjoyable.

And be sure to read our RV Cooking FAQ article for more tips on how to cook and bake your favorite recipes in your motorhome or travel trailer!

1. Magma Nesting Cookware

Designed specifically for use in RVs and boats, the Magma “Nesting” Stainless Steel Induction Cookware Set offers professional-grade cooking that conveniently stores together in less than a ½ cubic foot of cabinet space!

Nick Riebe (@overlandpiratevan), who is traveling in a Solis Pocket, recently purchased these and said, “so far, I absolutely love them.”

“Each pot features a perfectly flat-milled bottom, delivering even heat distribution on induction, gas, electric, or ceramic cooktop surfaces. In addition to ensuring a high-quality cooking experience, they offer oven-safe versatility, the durability of marine-grade stainless steel, dishwasher-safe convenience, and compact storage,” he shares.

Nick is looking forward to many years of use out of this professional-grade cookware set and highly recommends it to other outdoor enthusiasts.

2. Egg Cooker

Brian and Becca Roy (@SuperchargedCamper) share that their egg cooker is a gadget they love for saving time and space when traveling in their Micro Minnie travel trailer:

“When conserving space and wanting a healthy, on-the-go snack, we turn to our Dash 7-egg Everyday Egg Cooker that we picked up from our local Target.  Whether it’s hard-boiled, soft-boiled, poached, or scrambled eggs, this inexpensive, compact gadget will cook them all in minutes - allowing us more time to enjoy the great outdoors.”

3. Silicone Cooking Utensils

A simple but effective option Stefany and James Adinaro (@TheFitRV) love for cooking in their Winnebago EKKO are silicone utensils.

“Silicone kitchen utensils seem like such a minor thing, but they’re a big deal to us! We love how they don’t rattle when we’re driving along, and they’re so much more durable (and flexible to cook with!) than traditional metal or plastic utensils. They also don’t harbor germs as wooden utensils can.

Silicone utensils can stand up to our rolling earthquake on wheels! Silicone is also great because it’s heat-resistant and non-toxic. Plus, silicone utensils won’t scratch our pots and pans. So much to love and we won’t travel without them.”

4. Cast Iron Skillet & Pot

Cast iron is a go-to in many kitchens, including ones that roll! Amy and Rod Burkert (@gopetfriendly) travel with a cast iron skillet, to make things like bread or pizza, and a cast iron pot for soups and stews.

Rod shares: “I like to use cast iron cooking ‘gear’ because the heat gets evenly distributed, there's no artificial non-stick coating to get into your food … and since you don't use water to clean cast iron, you save water when boondocking!”

5. Collapsible Electric Kettle

“I think my favorite item is a small electric kettle,” Peter Holcombe shares. “It heats water very fast and folds down flat for very easy storage. It's the perfect way to boil water in the all-electric Revel. This is the one we use.”

Peter and his family travel in a Winnebago Revel campervan and Hike travel trailer combo! You can follow along with his adventures at @PeterHolcombe.

6. Magic Bullet

Noel Fleming and Chris Miller have loved using this gadget in both their Winnebago Travato campervan and now Class C EKKO:

“Magic Bullet is a great tool when it comes to RV living! We have made many a protein shake in this powerful appliance, and now we’re branching out to making dressings and soups. We like it because it’s compact, fast, and easy to clean. Now who wouldn’t love that in an RV?”

7. Air Fryer

Kenny Phillips (@MovingForwardAdventures) has great things to say about the addition of an air fryer to his Winnebago Vista:

“I have to give credit where credit is due, Sabrina really wanted an Air Fryer for the RV and I thought it was kind of gimmicky, but boy was I wrong.  When it comes to cooking, the Air fryer has been a great addition to our RV.  It doesn’t take up a lot of space, is very lightweight, and versatile with what we can make with it.

When thinking of an Air Fryer, most people think  of fries, onion rings and chicken nuggets, but I have to say I have enjoyed making veggies in the  air fryer as well - brussel sprouts being my favorite!”

8. Omnia Oven

“The Omnia is a portable stovetop oven. Just pop it on your stove top, or another heat source, and voilà – instant oven. If you can do it in a regular oven - heat, bake, or cook - you can do it in an Omnia,” Nick shares.

“The Omnia requires no installation and works with a variety of heat sources to provide a convenient, versatile way to prepare your favorite foods. I’ve used mine consistently over the years to make all kinds of yummy creations.”

9. Robert Irvine Knives

The Adinaros travel with an RV-specific set of knives and cutting boards that they really love using:

“The Robert Irvine knives and cutting boards from Camping World turned out to be a pleasant surprise. We were given a set after we competed on an RV cooking show, and then I loved having them so much in the RV, I got some more for our home, too!

The knives are fantastic— the handles are ergonomically designed, and they cut wonderfully. I especially appreciate that they come with a protective cover, a nice travel-friendly feature. The cutting boards are double-sided, heavy duty, and gentle on knives.”

10. Instant Pot

It is no secret that many RVers love their Instant Pot – a multi-functional, electric pressure cooker! These time-saving gadgets are great for meal prepping while you have hookups, but can even be used with enough solar power.

While it does take up a little more room than other gadgets, Scott and Jaime Sichler think it is worth it: “We know space is limited in your RV and the Instant Pot may not change your life, but it definitely makes dinner easier and, we think, that makes it completely worth the space.”

The Sichlers wrote an entire article about why they love theirs, including go-to recipes. Read more here.

11. Blackstone Griddle

“The Blackstone 17” Griddle is a recent addition for us, but it has been a game changer for meal prep and enjoyment! It gets us outside even more (which is why we RV!), it keeps the savory but lingering smells outside of our EKKO, and it allows for cooking many delectable treats simultaneously on the large surface,” shares Noel Fleming and Chris Miller.

“Many people automatically think that the griddle is for grilling meat, but we are also using our Blackstone to cook pancakes and pizza as well as every type of vegetable and fruit we can find!”

(Fellow EKKO owners, James and Stef, rave about their Blackstone Griddle as well! Stef claims it has changed their RV life!)

12. Aeropress

For the coffee lovers out there, Nick Riebe recommends an Aeropress, here’s why:

“The Aeropress is a piston-style brewer that forces coffee through a thin paper filter directly into a cup. It brews just a single serving of coffee at a time, but its size and durability make it a favorite device among travelers and campers.

Aeropress coffee has a clean taste with clearly defined flavor notes thanks to the paper filter that stops any oil and sediment from getting in the cup. I’ve been using one for years, and absolutely love it!”

We hope this list inspires your RV cooking and baking adventures! What is your go-to RV kitchen gadget?

I like these products because they take the place of several tools and just work really well! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/grillspec/grillspec-multifunctional-tools-for-kitchen-and-grill
