TN: West Tennessee Travelers

Enid Lake/Wallace Creek

Enid, MS

November 20-22, 2020

Thirteen members of the West Tennessee Travelers met at Enid Lake/Wallace Creek campground or our last campout of the season. We all gathered at Loop LBLU overlooking Wallace Creek. Our group filled the loop to overflowing. This was our first trip to Enid Lake and most definitely will not be our last.

We all arrived a day early to beautiful comfortable days and crisp evenings. Of course, we gathered around doing what we do best – talking and solving all our and the worlds problems. Jeannette and I had to make a trip to Memphis Friday for a doctors appointment so we missed most of the best part of the day. Our Hosts Greg & Karen kept all entertained with a toasty campfire for the evenings so that we could continue with our reacquainting.

Saturday morning began with our regular club meetings. This was a very important one as the main topic was setting up our 2021 camp schedule. At the present time, we are hoping and praying that Covid-19 does not play havoc with our schedule. We will just assume that we can enjoy the upcoming summer and fall without any cancellations. GNR is scheduled for the week of July 26th – 30th . In case this is cancelled, we will schedule a campout at Columbus-Belmont State Park, Columbus, KY. Men, start prepping your shopping and culinary skills as we will be putting them to a test. Right now, we are considering a men’s cookout of breakfast and dinner at Long Branch April 19-21. More information to follow.

Greg & Karen brought white Chicken Chili and Gumbo with chocolate chip pumpkin bread for dessert Friday night. For our potluck on Saturday, they provided a delicious slow cooked pork loin. Cliff & Kay brought a rice dish with mushrooms and water chestnuts. Ken & Jeannette provided a salad bar. Mike & Diana brought green beans. Terry brought carrots and Rose brought corn & brownies. Bob brought cheese trays. Man that was a feast. Raoul, we have another fisherman in WTT. David Strand landed some catfish and a drum. Enid does have some good fishing as I recall from my fishing in years past.

For our Long Branch outing April, 19-21, I have reserved site 54 in the group camping area in loop GLOO. Mike has site 51. Group camping sites are 49-57. I recommend reserving sites as soon as possible.

As usual, departure day arrived all too soon and we had to return to our abnormal routine. Hope to see all next month at Seven Points.
