South Florida Winnie Gators

The South Florida Winnie Gators December 2022 outing was held at Upriver RV Resort in N. Fort Myers, Florida. We were so fortunate to be able to meet here this month as these folks, and all of Fort Myers, are still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Ian.

As a special thanks to the management at Upriver and in appreciation of the long-standing friendly relations between our SFWG Club and their community we presented them with a holiday basket of goodies.

Our December campout began on Thursday with folks checking in and decorating their coaches for the “Best Decorated Coach” competition and settling in for an afternoon Happy Hour.

On Friday morning, our energizer activity leader put together a Shuffleboard tournament of eight teams who vied for the prized bottles of wine. Our Happy Hour was a Gift Raffle with 14 great prizes up for grabs and fun for all the happy winners. A special event was the celebration of our President Rick Bunn and wife Becky Bunn celebrating their 56th Anniversary.

On Friday evening we enjoyed our annual “Tour of Italy” dinner with members bringing their favorite Italian dishes and the Club providing salad and garlic bread as well as several varieties of holiday ice cream.

Our Saturday breakfast, prepared by our own kitchen crew, was a delicious meal of french toast, link sausages, and grits.

All members enjoy exchanging Christmas Cards so everyone brought their “mailbox” to the clubhouse on Saturday morning so others could distribute their greetings to each other.

Saturday Happy Hour was a money raffle which provided lots of extra dollars into the hands of three winners. A fourth winner won a free campout for February.

Saturday dinner was club-provided spiral sliced ham with scalloped potatoes and a huge variety of side dishes brought by members, which included desserts.

After dinner the annual Yankee Trader Gift Exchange provided lots of entertainment and laughs as each person opened their gift and either kept it, or chose to “steal” a gift from someone else.

There were five winners of the Christmas Coach decorating contest and each one received a prize of wine, prosecco, or candy.
