OH: Buckeye Winnies

July Campout

The Buckeye Winnies started their Convict Campout Friday evening with a wonderful light dinner provided by Faith and Stan Caniglia. Stan’s baked beans were a big hit with the group. Stan adds a secret ingredient to his baked beans. We cannot tell. You will have to ask Stan. After dinner it was movie time. The Shawshank Redemption seemed like a good choice. Thanks to Rick Stephenson for bringing a projector and streaming the movie. Also, a big thanks to Charlotte Kowalcyk for providing the movie screen. While we are at it, a big thanks to Faith and Stan Caniglia for providing the tent. Those able to make the Convict Campout are as follows: Charlotte and Walt Kowalcyk, Laurie and Walt McClellan, Gail Peckham, Barb and Jim Stewart, Charlene and Aaron Zatik and our Wagon Masters, Faith and Stan Caniglia and Nancie and Rick Stephenson. We welcomed guests Nena and Dan Bauman. Saturday morning the group was treated to a wonderful breakfast provided by our Wagon Masters then it was off to the Mansfield Reformatory. Since Nancie and Rick have been to the prison before they decided to stay at camp. The group was impressed with the architecture of the reformatory.

Outside of the Mansfield Reformatory.

Some campers went back to camp after visiting the reformatory while others checked out the area. Most of the group met at the Roadhouse Brown Derby for dinner.
