Spring Lake RV Resort.

Eight RVs arrived in time to put up a controversial tent & kick off the weekend with the downtown Taste of Newton. Those in attendance for the campout were: Haerichs, Streits, Crafton, Martins, Vesters, Crosbys, Neufelds & Vehs – who stayed in Hesson. Fun Guests: Joe & Gail Robben, Danny & Leah Cochran, John & Bridgett Burden.Streets were closed off, food vendors came in and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. Hosts Gerhard & Julie Neufeld started off on Friday with Biscuits & Gravy under the tent. The men went to the Newton Water Treatment Plant while the gals headed to Hesston for a bit of shopping but were back in time for lunch at Newells Truck Stop. The afternoon was spent working on almost 50 years of Archives. Books full of minutes, pictures, reports etc.... Lots of laughs & memories, some campers none of us could recall – 50 years!!  The gals learned a painting technique called Mandala taught by MariLee McDonald, Director of the Carriage Factory, Newton Art Gallery. We never knew painting on rocks could be so much fun!  Then off to Carriage Crossing in Yoder for a great dinner. Saturday brought rain after a breakfast of pancakes & sausage but we were dry under the tent. Enjoyed a quiet morning working on Archives, then off to Sedgwick for lunch at Cy’s Place, also called Hoof and Horn.  Men visited  Weibe Aircraft and were back in time for a rainy 4:00 business meeting.
