FEBRUARY LUNCHEON –
The February lunch was attended by Bruce & Kathy (with their two granddaughters); Eileen, Esther, Ann, Claudia & Roelf, Jim & Ginger, Tina & Richard, and new members Mike & Diane Janchenko. A good turnout!

Mike and Diane are from Villa Park Illinois and have recently purchased an RV. More details to come.

In the small world department, Mike & Diane and Kathy & Bruce found out they are headed to the same RV park in Gulf Shores and then on to Destin Florida.

Richard & Tina are escaping the Illinois winter to go on a cruise. Esther, Ann, Jim & Ginger continue to enjoy their winter in Illinois.

David & Lynne missed the luncheon due to medical issues. Please keep them in your prayers.

Eileen sold her RV! Roelf & Claudia went to the big RV show in Rosemont… are they in the market for a new RV???

OTHER MEMBER NEWS

David Hicks has officially retired. Dr. David was an optometrist and although he closed his practice in St. Charles a while ago, he had continued to provide optometry to prisoners in area prisons. Congratulations to Dave for his service and a long and successful career.

Spotted on Facebook - Toby & Barb were able to meet up with Jerry & Kae Mitchell and Jeff & Kathy Wilshir somewhere in Texas.

The Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford was featured on a travel show, John McGivern’s Main Streets. The club visited the gardens when we camped nearby last summer. You can see the show on YouTube.

GNR – MARK YOUR CALENDARS
The 2022 Winnebago Grand National Rally will be held July 17 – 21, 2022 in Forest City Iowa. Registration opens in early April. The theme this year is “Route 66”. It will be a celebration of the iconic highway, and all the sites along this memorable path, according to the Winnebago website.

As first timers last year, we were impressed with the rally. There were loads of seminars on a good variety of topics. They covered many mechanical topics, featured travel seminars, conducted feedback sessions with product managers, and even had a decorating seminar for your RV. The entertainment was top notch. The chapter party night was a lot of fun too. The small town of Forest City rolls out the red carpet for the rally attendees.

The rally was planned on short notice due to the fluidity of the covid situation. The planning team did a terrific job with a truly short lead time! About 700 rigs were present. We hear that it could be double that for 2022 now that the covid restrictions are (hopefully) in the past.

More information will be shared as it becomes available. You can also visit their website at: https://www.winnebago.com/owners/grandnational-rally
