IL: Cardinal Capers

JANUARY LUNCHEON – CAFÉ 20

Cardinal Capers members in northern Illinois braved the freezing rain to meet up for lunch at Café 20. Ten members attended including Claudia, Roelf, David, Lynn, Ginger, Jim, Eileen, Esther, Tina, and Richard.

Everyone is busy with winter projects and staying productive despite the cold. Jim continues to work on the barn, Ginger prefers to stay warm in the house while sorting through “61 years of stuff” to donate to a local thrift shop. Eileen took short trips to Mooseheart and Aurora. Roelf and Claudia made a trip to the COE Canal Lock & Dam 13 in Fulton Illinois to watch the bald eagles. Richard continues to enjoy his growing granddaughter, Eleanor.

OTHER MEMBER NEWS

Speaking of granddaughters – Jerry and Delores Frost just welcomed a new addition to their family, a great granddaughter, Audree Quinn. Congratulations to the Frosts!

Ann recently returned from a destination wedding in Jamaica.

Toby and Barb had car problems related to the wiring of the car to the motorhome on their recent trip to Texas. It cost them two extra travel days as they tried to resolve the issue with the battery in the car. They made it to their winter location eventually and all is well now.

Ed and Gloria are enjoying their first year as snowbirds. They are taking advantage of the warm weather at a RV resort in Mesa Arizona.

TRIP PLANNING TOOLS

What are your favorite tools or resources when you are planning to visit a new destination?  If you are on Facebook, you may already be aware of the site: Only In Your State.

The Only in Your State site features both natural and commercial locations to check out in the State. You can find little known natural sites like a more beautiful canyon than the Grand Canyon in Arizona (hard to believe) or an Olive Oil vineyard with tours. Check it out! https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/
