GA: Winnie Rebels

Our GWR Club has a tradition to hold our December outing at the River Rocks Landing RV Park with their spectacular Christmas lights on display.

Those of us that were able to participate were excited to see each other, the Christmas light display and excited to see our host, Linda Tomsett, who arrived with her new Winnebago Hike!

This was her checkout trip and we all had fun checking her new rig out. Jim Bell had the most fun. Just ask him about where to look for toasters! Members that came to enjoy the long weekend were: Jim & Barbara Bell, Lyn Brown, Fred & Kathy Genrich, Dennis & Jean Harrison, Franklin & Margaret Jackson, John & Leslie Keener, and Roy & Sarah Sowers. We had a total of 14 members and 6 RVs. Our events started Thursday late afternoon with a festive & heavy hors d’oeuvres in the Lodge room. It was so good to see each other and learn about everyone’s holiday plans.

While we were gathered talking, the lights started flickering and seemed to not want to stop. Two romantics decided to try and light a fire, which might’ve been what (or who) Franklin was laughing at – you’ll have to wait and see the picture on our website once they’re loaded. Friday we were left to ourselves to decorate our RVs, get some of our Christmas shopping done or relax. We all met at Top of the River Restaurant for dinner, where we were greeted by lots of the local ducks who also watched us leave. After dinner, we met back at the Lodge room for some delicious desserts of 2 kinds of chocolate cake and carrot cake….and the usual Chasing the Ace game. Tonights winners were Dennis & Linda!

Breakfasts together are always good, and Saturday morning, Linda treated us all to a pancake breakfasts with sausage, fresh fruit, juice & coffee with help from Jim and Roy. You can always count on them to help with a very cheerful heart and fun. After breakfast, we held our club meeting – it was a long one! We had so many important things to discuss - it was a good meeting! After breakfast we walked around the park – we figured that if we walk the exterior route using the river walk path, one lap is about 1.2 miles! Some of us waited around for the Georgia game, others started getting ready for our big Saturday night dinner.

The tables were set with beautiful decorations and our Christmas Dinner was ready at 5:30 – as scheduled! Franklin said a beautiful blessing before we grabbed our plates and lined up. Our host provided ham, turkey, dressing, gravy & rolls and the rest of us completed our meal with delicious side dishes, like 3 kinds of wonderful cranberry salad, whole kernal corn, potato salad, broccoli casserole, and dessert of apple pie, bite sized eclairs, cookies, and cakes. I know I left something out – it was all so delicious - Thank you to all the cooks!
