FL: Buccaneer Winnies

Eleven Buccaneer Winnie’s gathered at SanLan RV Resort this September for our first official Campout. The camp ground was still enforcing COVID precautions, so we weren’t able to use the Clubhouse.  That didn’t slow us down! The weather cooperated with mostly sunny skies albeit a few showers. Andy and Sonya put up a tent, extra tables set up and we were ready for a good time. Thursday we gathered at the Howard’s site for Happy Hour with stories of what we had been up to over the summer. Mike and Minnette had fulfilled a bucket list item when during a Western Rally Mike got to ride his horse over the trail while Minnette got to bounce, bounce along in a Conestoga Wagon. They also got to spend the night sleeping in a real teepee. Quite the adventure. After dinner Diane and Frank treated us to an Ice Cream Social. We all enjoyed making our ice cream sundaes with chocolate syrup, whipped cream and cherries on top. More stories shared before we headed in. Friday morning after breakfast a group headed off to Safari Wilderness to view and feed the animals during their tour of this 260 acre preserve.

When everyone was back Diane grilled us hotdogs for lunch with all the trimmings. We even had yellow mustard. Then back to games of chance. Nickels proved a winner, as always, with fortunes being exchanged amongst players.  Frank made sure that Andy and Jim put their nickels in the pot when needed. Followed by Happy Hour and Pizza. Saturday dawned bright and sunny. Diane and Frank left early to celebrate their grandsons 3rd birthday. While Walt and Andy cooked us pancakes on the grill. During breakfast more stories were shared. The rest of the day was spent playing Mexican Train and exchanging more stories.

Andy and Charley came to spend the day. Lunch seemed to have been forgotten as we continued on with a rousing game of Mexican Train. Competition was tough. The purple Crown Royal Bag flew back and forth amongst the players. Happy hour arrived and we managed to finish the game before our Pot Luck dinner. We ended the day with our traditional pot luck dinner. Lots of good foods and more stories. Someone even experimented with us preparing something she had never made before... chili! Sunday we had a continental breakfast before breaking camp and heading out our separate ways.

Happy Trails and Safe Travels. See you all in Ruskin next month!
