Ahhh, June. The days are getting noticeably warmer and longer. And all those travel plans made during winter are now, like us, in full motion. We've been on the road for a couple of weeks and perfectly timed a summer delivery of abundant sunshine to our arrival at the Pacific pearl of Vancouver.

I was last in Vancouver over twenty years ago on a business trip and the ensuing decades, punctuated by a Winter Olympics, have treated this western outpost of Canada extremely well. In our three day stay we packed in plenty of sightseeing which you can learn about here.

The only planned event on this month-long trip was to attend a Skinnie Winnie rally in Canyonville, Oregon. You can read about the rally here.

For the next few days we rambled up the Oregon Coast for some hiking, sightseeing and some excellent dining. Thanks to Martin, an Oregonian we met at the rally, we followed his tip to "Tidal Raves" in Depoe Bay for an excellent lunch and ocean view. We also discovered a fine dining gem in Lincoln City called "The Bay House." White linen table cloths, excellent service, and some obvious sophistication back in the kitchen made for a wonderfully relaxing and delicious evening.

Our stay in Portland definitely underscored its top ranking as America's most bike friendly city. Memo to many east coast and southern cities: visit Portland and take notes!

So we're off and running in the full swing of summer with plenty of adventures ahead.
