Quinebagos Local Chapter by Pat Kane

Well, even the looming threat of a hurricane (and slides that wouldn't work) couldn't dampen our spirits or cancel our campout at Oak Haven in Wales, MA. Early birds arrived on Wednesday and enjoyed a sunny day. Thursday found the majority of folks arriving. It was a mixed day for weather and eventually there were some gentle showers, but we were comfortable and dry inside the pavilion where we enjoyed good conversation. Friday was sunny and more folks arrived! Paula made us delicious apple pies topped with ice cream for our afternoon snack. We enjoyed spending time together and in the evening many of us joined other campers for a rousing game of bingo. Unfortunately, there were no winners in our group. After bingo we enjoyed an evening campfire. Saturday morning, we were treated to a delicious pancake (plain and blueberry yummy!), sausage and fruit salad breakfast. Special thanks to Paula and Leo for this great breakfast. Many folks took the opportunity to check out the community farmer's market being held across the street from the campground. Thank goodness so many of our members are handy. One of the coaches had a problem with its levelers. No problem! At one point there were seven men in the mix fixing it up. A labor-intensive job. Most importantly, a successful job well done! The rest of the day was filled up with most everyone playing Bocce and everyone had a fun time doing so. In the afternoon the pot luck appetizers were brought out...so many great treats!! Yep, we do like to eat. The evening was spent with "Team WIT" participating in the campground's trivia tournament. Kudos were in order as "Team WIT" won second place! Some folks headed home on Saturday to prepare for the tropical rain storm formerly known as hurricane Henri due to arrive Sunday morning. The rest of the group headed home Sunday. Special thanks to Paula and Leo Iodice for hosting, making all the arrangements and providing delicious food for this great weekend! A great time was had by all. Safe and fun travels to you all!

Hope to see you at the New England Rally!
