 On April 21-24, the Chardonnay Travelers had their April outing at Yanks RV Resort in Greenfield, CA.  The Salinas Valley, where Yanks is located, was pleasantly green with farmers working busily in their fields.  Being one of the major agriculture areas in central California, fields of lettuce, broccoli, artichokes, strawberries, etc. are common.  The winds from the ocean keep the valley windy much of the time.  Our weekend provided us with a clear day, a windy day, a rainy day, and even fog…we saw it all!

Yanks RV Resort in the Salinas Valley

Yanks is a nicely set-up RV Park with nice cement pads for vehicles, nicely maintained landscaping, a well set-up clubhouse, and a variety of amenities.  Our planned activities included a welcome dinner on Thursday evening, dinner out in the community of Gonzalez nearby on Friday evening, and a group potluck dinner on Saturday evening.   During the days, our group attended a guided tour of the Nuestra Senora de la Soledad Mission & Museum in the nearby town of Soledad on Friday and a sewing project to create a “Sewing Toolkit”, hosted by Margo Berenberg, on Saturday afternoon.  Evening activities included a Yahtzee Tournament,  a movie night, a puzzle to work on, and inside/outside games.  

On Saturday our club meeting took place in the morning and then afterwards we were provided with free time to do some exploring of the area.  A list of places to visit was provided by our hosts.  Those who chose to stay at the park played some outdoor games and socialized with the attendees.  Some folks just chose to “veg-out” and enjoy the free time.
