WA: Rainier Ramblers

The September outing was at North Whidbey RV Park on Whidbey Island. Wagon Masters were the Gleims and attending were Dickeys, Gauvreau, Lagunas, Robels & Stanfords. We gathered up on Tuesday under smokey skies – although it seemed to be a little better than at our home ports. We did our meet-up afternoon happy hour(s) catching up and had dinner on own.

Wednesday morning we woke up to fog, but thanks to some overnight rain showers, the smoke was much better! The fog burned off and members were able to do some sightseeing, hiking and a little shopping throughout the day. For DeeDee Gauvreau, it was a special day as she had lived on the Island as a kid and was able to meet up with some school friends and visit some of their old haunts! After our happy hour, we set up in the large gazebo for our bring-your-own meat BBQ and potluck. As always, the salads and sides were yummy and the wagon masters provided a Banana Split No-Bake Cheesecake that seemed to be a hit. Some more visiting and a nightcap provided a great ending to the day.

Thursday morning was foggy again, but no smoke made for a great day when it burned off. Once again members were on their own for sightseeing and hiking until happy hour time. After sharing our experiences, we once again headed to the Gazebo for dinner --- lasagna, sides and salads, and dessert. Another fun day and evening! Friday morning was a light breakfast of bagels, cream cheese and the group fruit bowl. Carol Robel won the 50/50 drawing. A couple of the members headed home and the others stayed for another day of good weather and fun.
