TN: West Tennessee Travelers
David Crockett State Park
August 20-22, 2020
Eleven members of the West Tennessee Travelers met at David Crockett State Park at Lawrenceburg, Tn for their August campout. Some of us arrived early and enjoyed the great weather and cool nights. Since our hosts Raoul & Arlene live nearby, prior to the campout Jeannette and I joined them on their patio for some hotly contested games of Mexican Train. Thursday we gathered at the Dixon’s campfire. Since the Dixons and Kleins have a Sunstar and the Shipmans have a Vista, we thoroughly discussed the similarities and differences. Of course we also talked about our travels or lack thereof and covid 19 impact.
Friday was our pot luck day and was supposed to be held on the Sanchez’s patio but the weather did not cooperate. Fortunately, we had the use of our campground pavilion so we all gathered for an outstanding BBQ rib, corn on the cob and ice cream provided by our hosts. The Logans provided baked beans, the Dixons provided deviled eggs, Bob Walter brought potato salad and the Kleins topped it all off with key lime and pecan pies. Needless to say, we ate until we were all stuffed. The downpour finally let up and allowed us to leave the pavilion.
Saturday dawned clear and bright and was a great day for exploring the park and nearby attractions. The Shipmans brought their 2 grandchildren so Greg took them to the lake and got his exercise showing the kids how to handle a paddleboat. The rest of the day was spent on games and conversation. As usual, Sunday arrived all too soon and we had to return to our abnormal routines brought on by the pandemic.
Hope to see all next Month.
