Happy 4th of July!

It’s hard to believe the 4th of July is right around the corner.  This newsletter might be a bit earlier than usual, but there is a lot of information I thought you’d want to hear.

We had a great trip to Pokegama RV last weekend.  The turnout was better than I expected!  We had 11 RVs from the Club, 3 guest RVs, and 2 drive-ins.  It was nice to sit and chat with everyone and feel some sense of normalcy.  We had great weather, so that was a definite plus.  Campfires and s’mores were about the only ‘activity’.  We did make a trip down to the Sloppy Crappy Tiki Bar for adult beverages. New member Joanie Eckert joined us.  Joanie bought her RV last fall.  She will be a wonderful addition to the group.  Her friend Sue joined her for the weekend, and entertained the group with some fun stories. On Sunday, there was a caravan of 5 RVs up to Moose Lake.  Several other Northwoods members joined us.  It was very windy!  There was a dragonfly that could barely make progress flying against the wind.

So now the business portion of the newsletter.  With all the uncertainty surrounding the Coronavirus, I have decided to cancel the 2020 State Rally.  I appreciate all the feedback I’ve received.  It’s been a hard decision to come to, but the number of members stating they thought the event should be cancelled, or that if it was held, they would not be attending, simply was far more than those who were in favor of having the event.  The 2021 State Rally will be held at the McLeod County Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, September 9-12, 2021.  We will have the same theme, Kentucky Derby, and Clubs will have the same responsibilities as they would have had for 2020.

I have also decided not to collect dues for 2020.  Because of the limited number of campouts, and no activities or food costs, we shouldn’t have many expenses.  We will also not have formal meetings at the remaining campout, since it could be difficult to reach a quorum.  Without a Rally, we will not have an election.  I am asking each Board Member and Director to extend their term by one year.  If you would prefer not to do this, please let me know.

Our August campout is scheduled to be at the St. Cloud Campground, August 14 and 15th.  We will continue to monitor developments with the coronavirus, but at this point we plan on having it.  It will be similar to Pokegama, with no hosts, no planned events, and no group meals. The Campout flyer is attached with more information.  Note the deadline for calling in your reservation.

Vice President Bernie Bauer-Steele is also looking for input on our 2021 Campout Schedule.  We both feel it would be nice to try some new places.  We checked out a couple while we were at Moose Lake, but they didn’t look suitable for our group.  If you have any suggestions, please let Bernie know at [email protected].

My final item to share is that I received a letter from WIT.  One of the things they shared is that Butch and Val Peters are no longer Central Area Reps.  They will continue an on-contract role as needed, but will no longer be working full-time.

Happy Birthday to those with July birthdays:  Dorothy Pomerson, Dave Valen, Glen Foust, Patt Hickok, Viola Manderud, Sharon Thobe, Dave Seaberg, and Chet Camp.

Happy trails, and until we meet again, may you be in good health!

Stay safe!!
